NASA, Industry Prepare Cryogenic Fuel Technology Demo

- NASA and Eta Space are partnering on LOXSAT, a liquid-oxygen flight demonstration to test cryogenic fluid management in low Earth orbit. - Eta Space built the payload under NASA’s Tipping Point program; Rocket Lab will provide a Photon bus and launch on an Electron rocket no earlier than July 17. - The nine-month mission will demonstrate 11 technologies to reduce boiloff, transfer propellant, manage tank pressure, and measure propellant levels in microgravity. - Data will inform development of in-space propellant depots to refuel missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
