NASA Equips Astronauts, Industry with Robotic Intelligence
- NASA tested robotic software in Johnson Space Center’s Integrated Mobile Evaluation Testbed to enable a robotic arm to recognize and operate a spacecraft hatch and transfer cargo bags. - Boulder-based PickNik Inc. developed and refined the control software MoveIt Pro with early government support and SBIR funding. - MoveIt Pro, commercially released in 2023, is used by companies including BMW, Lightspeed, and Hivebotics for industrial robotic tasks. - NASA says such robotic capabilities can handle routine tasks on future lunar missions, freeing crew for science and exploration.
